Care, before — and during.
Medical teams, harm reduction, accessibility, weather, prohibited items, and how to reach help fast. Everything that keeps 200 acres of forest safe for tens of thousands of people.
Medical care on the grounds
A full medical team — paramedics, registered nurses, and a physician — is on site from gate-open Friday morning through close Sunday afternoon. Care is free and confidential.
- Main Med Tent at the festival hub — staffed 24/7.
- Satellite First Aid stations next to each stage — minor injuries, dehydration, blisters.
- Roving teams on golf carts patrol the camping and art zones overnight.
- Emergency transport to the nearest hospital is arranged at no cost to you.
Look for the bright purple cross on any tent or staff vest. Stewards at every stage know how to call medical on radio in under 30 seconds.
Harm reduction
We work with a harm-reduction partner to staff a tent in the wellness zone. Care is non-judgmental, confidential, and never triggers a police response.
- Free drug-checking strips (fentanyl, benzodiazepine).
- Sober support space with peer volunteers.
- Naloxone available and trained staff on every roving team.
- Free water refill stations every 200m across the grounds.
If you or a friend isn't doing well, come to the wellness zone. No questions asked, no record-keeping, no consequence.
Accessibility
We aim to make 200 acres of forest as accessible as the terrain allows. Reach the accessibility coordinator at info@litgalaxy.ca at least four weeks before the festival.
- Accessible viewing platforms at the Main and Stellar Stages.
- Mobility-friendly paths link the hub, stages, and wellness zone (paved or compacted gravel).
- Accessible camping nearest the hub, with golf-cart shuttles available.
- ASL interpretation at every headline set; request a closer viewing spot at the gate.
- Companion wristbands at no additional cost for any attendee with a registered support need.
Weather & exposure
Ontario in July: warm days (28–32°C), cool nights (12–16°C), occasional thunderstorms. The festival continues in rain; only severe weather (lightning within 10km, sustained winds >70 km/h) pauses programming.
- Bring layers — temperature swings 15°+ from day to night.
- Sunscreen, hats, and rain ponchos are sold at every vendor area; bring your own to skip the queue.
- Storm shelters are marked at every stage; staff will direct you to the nearest one.
- Weather alerts go out on the official Lit Galaxy SMS line; sign up at the gate.
What not to bring
Security screens at every gate. To keep lines short, leave these at home — bringing them means turning around or surrendering them.
- Weapons of any kind. Knives over 3", firearms, martial-arts equipment.
- Outside alcohol or sealed bottles (empty refillable bottles welcome).
- Glass containers, fireworks, flares.
- Drones, professional camera gear, audio recording devices without a press pass.
- Animals — only registered service animals (with ID) are permitted.

Emergency contacts
Any life-threatening emergency: 911. Festival medical will be alerted automatically when 911 reports a Lit Galaxy address.
- Lit Galaxy on-site help line — posted on every wristband. Open 24/7 during the festival weekend.
- Lost & found — at the festival hub, by the main entrance.
- Safer-spaces team — for harassment or safety concerns. Approach any staff member with a yellow lanyard.
- Police presence is intentionally minimal; OPP is on call only.
Before you go
A short checklist for the week before the festival:
- Confirm your wristband arrived and is undamaged.
- Save the on-site help line into your phone.
- Sign up for SMS weather alerts at the gate or via account.
- Tell someone outside the festival where you'll be camping.
- If you take prescription medication, bring more than enough — pharmacies near the site are limited.
An access need we should know about?
Email the accessibility coordinator at least four weeks out. The earlier we know, the better we can prepare.
